Streaming-URL of a banner says 401 / The request could not be completed due to a user authentication failure
Hello Renegade-Team,
we generated Streaming-URLs from our banners which we host online. One of the partner media is the GMX, with it's austrian dependence. They wanted to implement the banner, but they can not see it. See screenshot attached... what was wrong with the streaming-url.
We provided:
IAB Leaderboard / Superbanner -> 728 x 90
http://echonet.advertserve.com/servlet/view/banner/url/media?mid=96...
IAB Wide Skyscraper -> 160 x 600
http://echonet.advertserve.com/servlet/view/banner/url/media?mid=88...
IAB Half Page Ad -> 300 x 600
http://echonet.advertserve.com/servlet/view/banner/url/media?mid=94...
SiteBar / Dynamic Scaling
http://echonet.advertserve.com/servlet/view/banner/url/media?mid=92...
IAB Medium Rectangle -> 300 x 250
http://echonet.advertserve.com/servlet/view/banner/url/media?mid=89...
They all seem to work on our system, but they get a failure.
Kind regards,
Roland

Hi Roland,
If they see a 401 error it indicates their IP address is on our blacklist, which serves to block invalid traffic from non-human visitors.
Are they making a request to the URL on the client or server-side? I'm guessing they are making a server-side request and that is probably the issue. We block many server hosting companies with our blacklist if we have found them to host or be infected with botnets.
Not to worry though. If they can provide us with the IP address(es) they are making the requests from we can whitelist them. Then there will be no problems.
