Secure Zone Tags

We'd like to make the part of our site HTTPS. There are advertserve tags used in various places on the site, is there an SSL/secure version of these tags - can we simply change the HTTP to HTTPS in the advertserve tag code, or will we need all new versions of these ad tags?

Thanks in advance,
Lauren

    Hello Lauren,

Actually, yes, it's possible to generate HTTPS/SSL zone tags but you need to have our SSL add-on. I can add that to your account for only $10/month. There is no setup fee, so I'd just need your approval to add it for you.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Let me confirm this additional cost with my finance team and I'll get back
to you. In the meantime, can you confirm if we will need to regenerate tags
or if we can add HTTPS to the existing tags?

    Thanks in advance,

    Lauren

    Hi Lauren,

There's no need to completely regenerate the tags. You can simply edit any existing tags to change http:// to https://

One thing to be aware of is that not all third-party ad servers support HTTPS with their tags. If any of your advertisers use third-party ad servers this will cause some complications. This is best solved by creating separate zones for the secure area of your site. That way you can easily avoid running their third-party ad tags on the secure areas of your site.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Yes, let's add the SSL add-on to our account. Once you do that, we only
need to change the HTTP to HTTPS in the advertserve ad zone tags, correct?

    Thank you!

    Lauren

    Hi Lauren,

Ok, I've activated SSL for your account and you can see it's working now: https://weddingwire.advertserve.com/

That's correct that you can simply change http:// to https:// in any existing zone codes.

In the future if you need to generate codes for new zones you'll see there is now a Secure option you can check that will automatically insert https into the codes, but the default is still to use http.

    Thanks,
    Mike
