Geo-targeting and internal network

Hello,

I have set a campaign to target only Canadian visitors, but because of our company’s network, the web server sees our internal IP (192.168.*.*) it does not resolve to any specified country. We do not want unresolved IP addresses to appear other then our internal IP addresses.

Is there a way for visitors from our network to view the banners when the campaign is targeting a location?

Thank you,

Stan

    Hello Stan,

If the ad server isn't seeing the client's IP address it's possible for you to pass the IP address to the ad server so it can detect their location.

One way, if you're loading the ads into your pages on the server-side would be to send an X-Forwarded-For header with the request that contains the client's IP address.

Another option is to add an &ip=1.2.3.4 parameter to the zone code, which would pass the client's IP address. Make sure to add this after the &pid=0 parameter in the zone code. You want it to be before the &referrer= parameter at the end of the URL (that one must be last).

    Thanks,
    Mike
