Zone reporting

All of the reports are tailored to ad sales and results, and not what I need. I need to do 'ad balancing'. We have multiple zones of the same size on various pages. I need to make sure all zones are filled, and that they are evenly spread between zones of same size.

To make this easier, I need a report that shows:

Zone Name, Media Size, Enabled Campaigns, Advertiser,s Start Dates, End Dates.

I'd like to export this to Excel, and hopefully make it easily modifiable if I decide a few more fields should be added.

The API area seems to be the starting point, but I have zero coding skills beyond HTML and some Javascript. I'm a front-end designer, and my boss wants me to get this done. Help please?

    Hello Jo,

Have you checked out our campaign snapshot tool? I think it may show you everything you need and it allows you to export everything to Excel. To access that, click on Campaigns in the toolbar and then click on Snapshot in the menu on the left.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Hi Mike or other lucky person,

I got some unexpected reporting results. This is sorted by our Zone
Name. There are MANY duplicated records with blank lines. Can you please
    explain this?
Is there documentation on reporting? I'm new at this and this is rather
    confusing.

    Thanks, Jo

Never mind, I figured it out. Multiple zones for an ad, and it doesn't
    copy down fields. Thanks anyway.

The Snapshot tool doesn't work for me. It only shows active campaigns.

I need a report that shows which zones are empty, because we don't use "default" media. I'm tasked to make sure every zone has at least one ad. Is this possible?

At this time we have nearly 200 zones, and the only way I can see if a zone has content is to manually go into each zone and look. There HAS to be a better way!

Well, yes, I remember last week I recommended a way for you to have a zone disappear. Technically it's still display a default banner even if it is invisible, so our reporting system is counting those views. Thus, you can still utilize the inventory reports to see if zones are empty. There can be cases too where a zone may have campaigns assigned to it but they may not be able to utilize 100% of the impressions due to caps, limits, targeting, etc... so the inventory reports can help you see that as well.

Just ran an Inventory Report. The Zone Default Summary shows only 36
zones. Does this mean that the other zones are empty? Is there a way to
    report on empty zones?

We have 175 zones, and will likely create more zones.

I recognize that we're not using your system as it was designed (with
default ads). I hope that's about to change, and I also appreciate your
    help.

    Thanks,

    Jo

Only zones that have served a default banner appear in the inventory reports. Those reports are showing your unutilized inventory. Zones that don't appear in that report either didn't show any defaults or aren't actively deployed on any visited pages of your site.

Also, if it's helpful I ran a query on the database for your account and there are only two zones that don't have any campaigns assigned to them:

    id name
    143 Test_Splash_Full_Page
173 Auto Front - Bottom Rail
